British Are In Favor Of Online Casino Regulation
Even though it has no real use, the British online casino industry surely has a good reason to celebrate. Six months before the new Gambling Act comes into force (September 2007), a recent survey, covering the various aspects of the online casino industry and its possible regulation, has revealed that nearly two thirds of the online casino gamblers support a policy that works to regulate the online casino gambling industry in the UK. To be more precise, 63 percent of the 4,630 respondents want to see the industry regulated, a move that is being led by Britain's Culture Secretary, Tessa Jowell.
What's even more surprising about the survey is the fact that the policy is getting support from non-gamblers too. More than half of them agree to Jowell's online casino regulation policy, clearly showing that the British people want to see this move become a reality. In addition, the survey also dealt with the question of licensing online casinos. According to the results, more than 70 percent of the British online gamblers prefer online casino sites that are licensed locally – a very impressive figure without a doubt.
Some other interesting findings will surely change the perception of many online casino gamblers. According to the survey, women already dominate the online casinos (55 percent), and not all of them necessarily young, as 29 percent of those women are between 46 and 55. Finally, the survey reveals that "home sweet home" still catches , as 90 percent of the online casino players prefer to gamble from the comfort of their own house.
